The Standard &Poor's/Case-Shiller 20-city home price index reported Tuesday that Phoenix has posted 22 consecutive months of positive return. But the growth is slowing down. Phoenix was one of the seven metropolitan areas in the study with a lower annual growth rate.

The National Transportation Safety Board is examining the wreckage of a Vietnam-era ‘Huey’ helicopter, that crashed near Mayer over the weekend. The crash killed 25-year-old Brynne Smith of Scottsdale and a second person on board, who is believed to have been the pilot.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department is doing what the federal government will not. The state agency is holding public meetings on the federal plan for the future of the endangered Mexican Gray Wolf. Advocates say more Mexican gray wolves must be released into the wild to ensure the long-term survival of the endangered species.

The state Legislature wants to take back control of drawing Arizona’s congressional district maps. In 2000, voters passed Prop 106, which took redistricting away from the Legislature and gave it to the Independent Redistricting Commission.

Republicans in the United States House of Representatives have expressed their disapproval of the Affordable Health Act by passing a short-term spending plan that would defund it. Leaders of the U.S. Senate have said the measure is dead on arrival there.

The election law changes that raised Arizona's campaign contribution limits are also providing candidates with an unwanted and apparently unintended surprise.  The surprise is a new requirement that candidates have separate campaign finance committees for the primary and general election elections, according to the Arizona Capitol Times.

Allegiant Air said it is still on schedule to finish inspecting the emergency slides in its fleet of MD-80 jets by the end of the month. The inspections have caused delays and cancellations for thousands of passengers.
