freeway closures are also gone. That includes the construction work over the Loop
101 in the East Valley. The Department of Transportation is
closer to completing the Galveston Street Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge over
the 101 Price Freeway.

SAT scores came out Thursday, and the results were pretty bleak. The College Board, which sponsors the SAT, said that about 60 percent of college-bound high school kids who have taken the test this year are not ready for the next level of studies.

The Arizona Board of Regents is asking for a nearly 15 percent hike
in next year’s budget for the state’s three universities and the Board
of Regents itself. The regents said the nearly $100 million increase
does not make up for the massive cuts made by the legislature during the
recession, but that budget may not make it through intact.
