Arizona State University W.P. Carey School Economics Professor Robert Mittelstaedt is criticizing Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne’s decision to join the United States Department of Justice in stopping the merger of Tempe-based US Airways and American Airlines.

Students will move into Arizona’s State University’s Manzanita Hall on Saturday for the first time in more than two years. The dorm will reopen after a $50 million renovation.  Manzy Hall, as it's known, has been an ASU fixture for more than four decades.

The home furnishing industry is starting to pick up again as the nation’s housing market continues to improve. According to Furniture Today, an industry newspaper, sales are expected to increase more than 4 percent this year.

A Southwestern shrub is now protected under the federal Endangered Species Act. The Gierish mallow, found only in Arizona and Utah, is now protected under the federal Endangered Species Act. It's estimated that only 18 groups of mallows remain in the Southwest.

Federal prosecutors want a judge to reject a former Arizona congressman's appeal on corruption charges. Rick Renzi represented what was then Arizona's first congressional district from 2003 until 2009.

Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is suing the Justice Department to allow Arizona to participate in a program that brings quicker action on appeals by death row inmates. Horne says Arizona followed Bush-era rules that shaved about 10 years off the average delay, but that President Barack Obama scrapped them and has yet to draft new ones.
