This week, two Arizonans returned from Mars – or the closest thing to it on Earth. The six participants in the Hawai'i Space Exploration Analog and Simulation Habitat spent four months living together in a small dome - and could only leave the space for brief periods if they wore mock spacesuits.

More people are riding the bus and light rail. In fact, a record number opted for public transit according to the latest numbers from Valley Metro which operates the transit system. Most people took the bus.

It will not be long before people in Arizona can officially use miniature horses as service animals. Starting next month, a new state law goes into effect that allows the small horses to help the blind and people in wheelchairs the same way a dog would.

Some Arizona community groups are getting $2 million to sign up people for health care expansion next year.  The grants will be used to hire staff to add patients to the state’s Medicaid system and help others purchase insurance under the new federal health care act.

Arizona is no longer among the top ten states with the highest number of foreclosure starts, according to housing data firm RealtyTrac -- for the first time since February 2007. The state saw 3,300 new foreclosure filings in July, a slight increase from the previous month but a 60 percent decrease since last year.

The United States has formally requested the rearrest of Mexican drug lord Raphael Caro Quintero.  He was unexpectedly freed from a Mexican prison last week. He had served 28 years for the 1985 kidnapping, torture and murder of Drug Enforcement Administration agent Enrique Camarena.
