The Secretary of State’s office says Arizona's voter registration numbers have risen
by about 2,300 since the last report in April. Spokesman Matt Roberts says
the number of non-affiliated voters increased the most,
“The two other state-wide major parties have seen either
decreases, slight decreases or they’ve gone up and down a little bit, over the
last couple years especially,” Roberts said.

The Arizona Court of Appeals has ruled former Suns star
Steve Nash may have to pay additional child support to his ex-wife. Arizona law has
guidelines for child support. Under them, Nash owed about $2,800 a month to his
former wife Alejandra for their three children.

Debate continues this week in Washington over the 2013 Farm bill. One of
the amendments being considered would eliminate a loophole in the current
federal animal fighting law. Wayne Pacelle of the Humane Society is a strong
supporter of the amendment, saying along with Arizona's 1998 ban on
cockfighting, it would "eradicate illegal animal fighting once and for
all" in the state.

Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is asking a federal judge
to throw out a challenge to the state's ban on abortion because of the child's
race or gender. The 2011 law makes it a felony for a doctor to terminate a
pregnancy for those reasons.

State lawmakers should be able to ignore a law they wrote and was approved by the voters. That is what an attorney for the legislators told the Arizona Supreme Court Tuesday. At stake are millions of dollars that school districts said the state legislature was supposed to provide but did not.

A federal appeals court ruled Tuesday the Food and
Drug Administration should never have approved the importation of an anesthetic
drug used in executions by lethal injections. Arizona was among three states that brought
the case to the appeals court.
