Contract talks between the union representing Valley
bus drivers and the Valley Metro’s system manager are on hold Monday. The
two groups decided to take a day off and meet again on Tuesday. First Transit and the Amalgamated Transit Union will return
to the negotiating table at 8 a.

Arizona's four Republican congressmen have postponed a field hearing they were
going to hold Monday in Prescott on what they call IRS abuse and EPA overreach.
Instead, Rep. Paul Gosar will host a memorial service for the victims of the
Yarnell fire.

If you are considering buying a car, there is some good
news Monday. Lenders are now barred from charging document preparation fees as
part of those loans. Representative Debbie McCune-Davis said the ban came as a
result of a lot of complaints.

Bus riders in metro Phoenix will be able to catch their normal
buses Monday and Tuesday. Susan Tierney of Valley Metro said while the bus
operators and the Amalgamated Transit Union have not settled their contract
differences, the buses are running,
“They will run as scheduled today and through Tuesday,”
Tierney said.
