With wildfire season upon us, it’s important to understand a key term you’ll hear a lot of -- how much of a fire is “contained.” “When we say ‘contained,’ we still have fire crews out there who will monitor the fire and make sure that we can hold that line, so that’s very different than calling it ‘controlled,’" said Carrie Dennett, fire prevention officer for Arizona State Forestry.

Coconino County sheriff's deputies have arrested a 25-year-old transient for tossing a cigarette that ignited a fire along I-40, near Flagstaff on Thursday.  James Duncan was taken into custody, in connection with the one-acre blaze, which was quickly dealt with by firefighters, according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Gerry Blair.

A mistrial has been declared in the penalty phase of the Jodi Arias trial. The now-dismissed jury says it was hopelessly deadlocked on the issue of whether Arias should spend the rest of her life in prison, or be put to death.

Firefighters are getting the upper hand on a human-caused wildfire that has been burning in the Coronado National Forest, east of Nogales.  Spokeswoman Michelle Fiddler says the Soldier Basin Fire is now 70 percent contained after charring nearly 11,000 acres of grass and brush.
