Governor Brewer vetoed a bill Tuesday that would have created a new state certification for music therapists. The governor said the bill did not go far enough to  protect patients. Under Senate Bill 1437 the state health department would certify music therapists.

The number of unmarried women having children continues to increase. The U.S. Census Bureau released numbers today showing the Flagstaff area has the highest birth rate in the nation for unmarried women in their early twenties.

The Phoenix Police Department will launch what it is calling the largest gun buyback program in Arizona history this Saturday – and the department is doing it with a looming deadline. On Monday, Governor Jan Brewer signed a law that prevents cities from melting down guns collected during buyback events.
