Italian architect Paolo Soleri has died at the age of 93. Paolo Soleri was a famed architect, most well-known around Phoenix for his design of Arcosanti, the experimental community.(Photo courtesy of Arcosanti) A student of Frank Lloyd Wright, Soleri was born in Turin, Italy, in 1919, but was most well-known in Arizona as the designer of the experimental community Arcosanti.

Arizona Game and Fish is reminding people that it is illegal in many areas to feed javelina and other wildlife. Spokesman Mark Hart says the Department has had to send warning letters to nine households in the Tucson area in the last month.

A grocery chain with outlets in Arizona says it will start requiring the labeling of genetically modified foods in its stores. Whole Foods is the first major retailer in the country to announce the change, but it won’t take effect until 2018.

A Glendale man learned about the hazards of trying to remove bees from his home without experience. He and members of his family and their pets were stung several times, according to Glendale Fire Department spokesman Michael Young.

Arizona lawmakers voted Monday to scrap an old definition in the law books that said people with mental illness were idiots. It existed despite the fact that most references in the statutes have been updated to be legally and medically correct.

A Senate-passed bill that authorizes the use of gold and silver coins as legal tender has won the approval of the Arizona House. Flagstaff Republican Bob Thorpe says gold and silver coins would not be assigned a monetary value.

The Scottsdale City Council will vote on the proposed pedicab ordinance Tuesday. The council will decide whether to require a driver’s license to operate the passenger tricycles on its city streets.

The Sky Train is now open. The automated, free airport transportation system is running through Sky Harbor International Airport from Terminal 4 to the Metro Light Rail stop. The Sky Train takes travelers from Terminal 4 to the East Economy Parking lot and to the 44th Street and Washington Light Rail train.
