The Arizona Senate has rejected a proposal to expand recall elections to include both primaries and general elections. The Senate had given the bill its preliminary approval on Tuesday. At that time, members also added a provision to include the incumbent’s name on both the primary and general election ballots, even if that incumbent lost in the primary.

Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne is calling city attorneys to a closed-door meeting later this month to explain what he thinks their communities can and can not offer domestic partners. The AG plans to sketch out what he says are the limits of city authority, saying that while he pretty much has his mind made up on the subject, he is willing to listen.

Arizona Senator Jeff Flake says he's taking a 'wait and see' approach to the threat from Gabrielle Giffords' husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, to challenge him in the next election.  Flake, who was elected to a six-year term last November, joined the filibuster which prevented a vote on the measure to expand background checks on gun sales.

Arizona House Minority Leader, Representative Chad Campbell says though the issue of extending background checks to gun shows and Internet gun sales, is not dead.
