Firefighters say they got a quick start on a wildfire in the Santa Cruz River, north of Tucson Monday, limiting the flames to less than an acre. Adam Goldberg with the Northwest Fire District says the potential for wildfires is growing because of the rather wet winter weather.

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors could have a new member by the end of the week. Supervisor Max Wilson resigned from the board due to health concerns earlier this year. KJZZ’s Al Macias reports there is no shortage of people applying for the job.

The Arizona Senate has approved a bill that lets employees at some rural schools be armed on campus.  Sen. Rich Crandall (R-Mesa) sponsored SB 1325. (Photo courtesy azleg.gov) SB 1325 allows teachers and staff to carry handguns if they work at a school that’s 20 miles and 30 minutes away from the nearest police station, that doesn’t have a school resource officer, and that has fewer than 600 students.

A state court ruled Monday that a Gilbert spa owner does not have the right to use fish as a pedicure treatment. But it might not be the end of the legal battle. Cindy Vong was blocked from using fish as an exfoliant at her nail salon in Gilbert, because the Arizona Board of Cosmetology said it was unsanitary.
