At its final meeting, the current Glendale City Council did not vote on a major budget cut. Members voted to table a proposal to trim $6 million – which would mean about 64 full time jobs. The current council decided it was best to wait until Mayor-elect Jerry Weiers and three council members are sworn in next week, and until Glendale has a permanent city manager.

The Grand Canyon National Park science staff is moving to an energy-efficient facility.The new 8,800 square-foot building has a water conservation system and will use solar power. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the building is Tuesday, but it won’t open until next month.

Wells Fargo Bank is targeting 900 people in the metro Phoenix area with a career fair on Wednesdays and Thursday.The fair will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center. Wells Fargo Executive Vice President Jacqueline Hill says those looking for work at the firm's new loan operations center in Tempe will be attractive as potential employees.

The new mayor of Glendale and the City Council meets today for the first time since election day. The council will vote on a proposal to cut the city’s budget. Glendale’s Mayor Elaine Scruggs and the City Council are expected to vote on a proposal to cut the city’s budget by $6 million.

The Obama administration has selected ASU and several other universities to help combat human trafficking. Each college will offer their proposal through a national contest. The challenge is designed to increase global awareness on human trafficking and galvanize students to create new technology to end modern slavery.

After more than six decades, the Greer Lodge Resort and Cabins in eastern Arizona has gone out of business.The lodge's web page says that it's now closed and directed anyone with reservations to download a refund request form.

A new survey shows there is a slight increase of desert bighorn sheep on the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge in southwestern Arizona. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Lynn Kelly reports. There was an increase of 26 sheep on the refuge from the 2010 survey for a new total of 428.

First-year law students at Arizona State University begin a new semester Monday. By next term they’ll have the chance to enter a new program that will eventually help them work in two countries.  The North American Law Degree could further extend business ties between Canada and Arizona.
