Some national evangelical leaders have announced a new effort to persuade conservative Christians and lawmakers they should support federal immigration reform.The effort is called “I Was a Stranger.” The campaign asks churches to spend 40 days studying scripture related to immigration.

Prices for winter lettuce grown in southwestern Arizona are rising because of damage caused by the freezing temperatures. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Lynn Kelly reports.The Yuma area provides much of the nation's leafy greens during the winter and since the mercury has dropped below freezing around the state, farmers are reporting damage to many Romaine and Iceberg lettuce crops.

People who work in Arizona may notice their take-home pay has shrunk a little. That’s because a temporary cut in payroll taxes expired. In 2010, Congress passed a temporary two percent break in the Social Security rate to help stimulate the economy.
